Program Assistant for the Diplomacy Initiative

Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The Office of the Vice Provost for Global Affairs has primary responsibility for shaping and implementing the University’s global strategy while supporting global activity across campus. The Office includes Global Education, Global Partnerships, Global Research Institute, International Student and Scholar Services, Global Communications, The Duke-UNC Rotary Peace Center, and the Business Office/Unified Business Center.
Position Summary
The Program Assistant for Communication supports the Diplomacy Initiative, managed by UNC Global Affairs. The position helps deliver Diplomatic Discussions and other speaking engagements, as well as the CDF Lounge and Leaders/Readers Circles. Duties include:
- Preparing background and preparation materials for speakers and campus partners
- Maintaining the CDF Lounge
- Cooking with the Special Advisor to the Vice Provost and Executive Assistant to the Vice Provost on various events and programs
- Other duties as assigned
This position is supervised by the Associate Director for Communication and Special Advisor to the Vice Provost in the Office of the Vice Provost for Global Affairs.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
A high school diploma or equivalency, or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
Management Preferences
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational abilities with keen attention to detail
- Proven capacity to work independently while managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Experience in a university environment
- Track record of successfully managing projects from initiation through completion, consistently meeting milestones and deadlines.
Special Physical/Mental Requirements
Ability to move up to 20lbs. with or without accommodation.
