Program Assistant 4-H Youth Development – Lauderdale County
About the role
The successful candidate will serve as a member of both Tennessee State University Extension and Lauderdale County Extension, with a primary focus on 4-H Youth Development programming. This position is responsible for planning, implementing, evaluating, and reporting educational programs that support positive youth development throughout the county.
Responsibilities
- Cooking up and delivering programs, events, and activities through traditional 4-H clubs, project groups, educational workshops, camps, conferences, and special-interest classes.
- Working closely with youth, volunteers, schools, community partners, and Extension staff to expand and strengthen 4-H opportunities and enhance program impact.
- Performing other duties as assigned by County, Regional, and State Extension Administrators in support of the Extension’s mission and goals.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in Extension, teaching, or other youth development activities is preferred.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, which will include some nights, weekends, and overnight travel.
- Must provide own transportation, have access to a personal vehicle, and the ability to obtain/maintain a valid Tennessee driver’s license.
- Knowledge and understanding of program planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Proven ability to build and maintain positive working relationships and work successfully in team environments with UT and TSU Extension programming staff.
- Demonstrated effective communication skills, with the ability to document and market program impacts and model self-reliance in a collaborative environment.
Qualifications
