Professor of Practice - Construction Management Program

Description

The Construction Management Program (CM) at the University of Houston (UH) invites applications for a nine-month, full-time, Professor of Practice position. This is a non-tenure-track appointment with an anticipated start date of January 15, 2027. The selected candidate will teach four undergraduate courses per semester and participate in or lead curricular and programmatic initiatives, including internship programming, industry relations, and student competitions.

This position is part of the College of Engineering at the University of Houston, which is the second-largest college and one of the fastest-growing colleges at the University of Houston. The College of Engineering is a Carnegie-designated Tier One public research university and the flagship institution of the UH System. Requirements

• Earned a Master of Science degree in construction management or a related field, such as construction science, civil engineering, or architectural engineering.
• A minimum of five years of relevant construction industry experience.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor of Science degree in construction management, construction science, civil engineering, architectural engineering, or a closely related field, along with 10 to 15 years of extensive and relevant construction industry experience, may also be considered.
• Prior higher education teaching experience is preferred.

The CM program is a designated STEM program and is accredited by the American Council for Construction Education (ACCE). The program has approximately 900 undergraduate and graduate students and more than 200 industry partners serving on its industry advisory boards and participating in its approved internship employer program. The Process and Industrial Construction Program was recently recognized with the Spirit of ECC Award for its contributions to the industrial construction sector.

Schedule

The selected candidate will teach four undergraduate courses per semester.

Pay

Salary is commensurate with experience.
