Professor, Director of the Institute for Native American Studies

About the role

The Institute of Native American Studies at the University of Georgia, an interdisciplinary institute with affiliated faculty across departments, schools, and colleges, invites applications for the position of Director.

Responsibilities

• Teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels
• Serve as chief administrator of the Institute and presiding officer of its steering committee and faculty meetings
• Coordinate INAS programming and public outreach
• Develop and implement curriculum
• Lead collaborative efforts between INAS and other programs on campus and the emergent Southeast Native American Studies Consortium
• Serve as one of UGA’s liaisons with tribal research partners and affiliates

Requirements

• Terminal degree in the applicant’s area of specialization
• To be eligible for tenure upon appointment, candidates must be appointed as an associate or full professor, have been tenured at a prior institution, and bring a demonstrably national reputation to the institution

Qualifications

• Demonstrated active research agenda in a field related to Native American studies, broadly defined
• Administrative expertise and commitment to multidisciplinary collaboration that advances Native American Studies across the university and with the public
