Faculty Position - Open Rank (Associate or Full Professor in Native American and Indigenous Studies)
About the role
The Center for Native American and Indigenous Studies at Emory University seeks applications for an Associate or Full Professor position. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Native American and Indigenous Studies, with a focus on the southeastern United States.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to shaping the future of Native American and Indigenous Studies at Emory
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to build an initiative that impacts generations to come
- Engage in research that redefines Indigenous Studies and challenges academic, legal, and popular narratives about Indigenous peoples
- Teach and mentor a diverse student body
- Lead programmatic initiatives that enhance faculty research and improve visibility and representation in the curriculum
- Work with Indigenous communities and traditional or historic relationships to Emory’s campuses
Requirements
- Demonstrated commitment to teaching and mentoring a diverse student body
- A Ph.D. in a relevant field
- A critical, interdisciplinary orientation to the study of culture, fine arts, sovereignty, nation, race, gender, and/or sexuality
- A national and/or international reputation as an active scholar in Indigenous Studies
- A grounding in Indigenous knowledge systems
- A commitment to working with Indigenous students and communities
Qualifications
- Ability to perform tasks in-person at an Emory University location
- Experience in community and academic spaces for programmatic leadership

Pay
The starting salary range for this position is $80,000 - $100,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
