About the role
The University of Louisville School of Medicine invites applications for the position of Professor and Chair of the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences. The School seeks a Chair to lead the clinical, scientific, and educational programs of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, emphasizing excellence, diversity, and collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Oversee strategy, finance, and operations of the Department
- Lead the development of clinical centers of excellence
- Inspire and guide groundbreaking clinical, translational, and basic research
- Plan and guide clinical psychiatry efforts within UofL Health system
Requirements
- M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree
- Board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology
- Proven record of financial and operational leadership
- Strong teaching, clinical, mentoring, and research advancement skills
- Demonstrated administrative experience, academic leadership, and ability to foster intellectual diversity and cultural richness
- Commitment to patient care, research discovery, faculty development, and medical student education
Qualifications
- Research interests and plans
- Teaching interests and experience with personnel management
Skills
- Ability to engage in collaborative research with other departments
- Experience in clinical trials and grant writing
- Leadership in medical student education
