Professional Wood Finisher or Supervisor

About the role
As a wood finisher, you will be required to examine the product, identify damaged areas, disassemble the basic parts, and sand/shape the wood. You will also be required to apply various finishing products to achieve the desired color and design.
Responsibilities
- Meeting with the Plant Manager to discuss finishing and color requirements
- Disassembling the furniture or part that needs to be flat sprayed
- Inspecting the wood for imperfections and physical damage
- Repairing broken parts, removing imperfections, and filling in cracks
- Sanding and smoothing the item in preparation for finishing
- Selecting and applying finishing products such as urethan, polyesters, spray/wipe stains and water base
Requirements
- Knowledge of Trade chemicals—their uses, interactions, dangers, production techniques and disposal methods
- High school diploma or GED
- Previous experience as a Wood Finisher is mandatory
- Strong attention to detail
- In-depth knowledge of staining and finishing techniques
- Excellent hand-eye coordination
- Advanced design skills
- Good communication skills
- Experience with hand and power tools
Pay & benefits
- Salary: $25.00 – $35.00 an hour (can go higher with supervisory background)
