Professional Wood Finisher or Supervisor

About the role

As a wood finisher, you will be required to examine the product, identify damaged areas, disassemble the basic parts, and sand/shape the wood. You will also be required to apply various finishing products to achieve the desired color and design.

Responsibilities

• Meeting with the Plant Manager to discuss finishing and color requirements
• Disassembling the furniture or part that needs to be flat sprayed
• Inspecting the wood for imperfections and physical damage
• Repairing broken parts, removing imperfections, and filling in cracks
• Sanding and smoothing the item in preparation for finishing
• Selecting and applying finishing products such as urethan, polyesters, spray/wipe stains and water base

Requirements

• Knowledge of Trade chemicals—their uses, interactions, dangers, production techniques and disposal methods
• High school diploma or GED
• Previous experience as a Wood Finisher is mandatory
• Strong attention to detail
• In-depth knowledge of staining and finishing techniques
• Excellent hand-eye coordination
• Advanced design skills
• Good communication skills
• Experience with hand and power tools

Pay & benefits

• Salary: $25.00 – $35.00 an hour (can go higher with supervisory background)
