Wood Finisher

About the role

We are a custom, high-end wood shop that manufactures custom doors and products for elite companies and residential clientele. We are seeking a self-motivated, detail-oriented, professionally minded finisher to join our team. This position will work in the stain/paint department, performing hand staining, sanding, spraying stain, sealer, lacquer, and latex paint in a production finish booth.

Responsibilities

• Brush, spray, or hand-rub finishing ingredients such as paint, oil, stain, or wax onto and into wood grain; apply lacquer or other sealers.
• Fill and smooth cracks or depressions, remove marks and imperfections, and repair broken parts.
• Mix finish ingredients to obtain desired colors or shades.
• Select appropriate finishing ingredients such as paint, stain, lacquer, shellac, or varnish, depending on factors like wood hardness and surface type.
• Smooth, shape, and touch-up surfaces to prepare them for finishing, using sandpaper, pumice stones, steel wool, chisels, sanders, or grinders.
• Prepare color/finish samples for customer approval.
• Operate shop machinery when needed (e.g., table saw, sanders, routers, planers, jointers).

Requirements

• Prior woodwork, painting, staining, or finishing experience.
• Knowledgeable in paint and spray equipment.
• Knowledge of paint formulas and reactions.
• Keen eye for detail.
• Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
• Basic computer knowledge.
• Punctuality and professional attitude.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Ability to read and interpret documents and drawings.

Skills

• General woodworking and carpentry experience (a plus).
• Good communication abilities.

Wage is negotiable depending on experience. Job Type: Full-time. Work Location: In person. Driver's License preferred.
