About the role
USAM, a high-end architectural millwork firm based in Manassas, VA, is looking for a Finisher/Sprayer to join our team.
Responsibilities
- Prepare work to enter the finishing area and/or sand between coats of finish.
- Apply uniform coats of satin and/or finish on a wide variety of wood materials.
- Set up, adjust, and operate all types of preparation equipment.
- Operate all tools and machines in a safe and productive manner.
- Run the wide belt sander and finishing line.
- Maintain work area in an acceptable manner.
- Assist with tool and machine maintenance as needed.
- Meet short and/or unpredictable deadlines.
- Consistently meet supervisor expectations.
- Understand and conform to company policies and procedures.
- Recognize and utilize the company’s resources effectively and efficiently.
- Develop and maintain a sufficient working knowledge of the organization as a whole.
- Confer with supervisors regarding overtime requirements.
- Develop mutual working relationships with supervisors to anticipate work needs.
- Use company time conscientiously.
- Arrive for work on time and work extended hours when workload/schedules require.

- Maintain confidentiality.
Requirements
- Experience in millwork and finishing.
- Skilled use of paints.
- Experience working in an AWI custom shop.
- Exceptional work ethic and willingness to learn new skills.
- Reliable and dependable worker.
- Some understanding of machine operations (belt sander preferred).

- Must occasionally push, pull, or lift from below the waist, or lift from an overhead position and carry 5-75 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

- Work in or near the shop floor where there may be moving mechanical parts with occasional exposure to the risk of electrical shock, outdoor weather conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
- Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasionally high.
Travel
Minimal travel is required for this position.
