Professional Tool Specialist (Baltimore, Northern Virginia)

As a member of our North America sales team, you will sell, promote, and demonstrate the RIDGID® and Greenlee® lines of professional tools and equipment. The ideal candidate will be based in the Baltimore, MD or Northern Virginia area.
About the role
Reporting to the Regional Sales Manager, you will partner with customers to understand their business priorities, provide valuable insights, and demonstrate how Emerson Professional Tools solutions help them work faster, safer, and more efficiently. This role offers the opportunity to build strong customer relationships, influence product adoption, and contribute to business growth through collaboration, innovation, integrity, and inclusion.
Responsibilities
- Promote and support the RIDGID® and Greenlee® product portfolio with end users across the electrical, mechanical, utility, plumbing, industrial, and construction markets.
- Build and maintain relationships throughout the customer organization, including tradespeople, supervisors, safety leaders, purchasing professionals, project teams, and business owners.
- Conduct product demonstrations, training sessions, and educational presentations for customers, apprenticeship programs, and industry professionals while communicating the Faster-Safer-Easier value proposition.
- Develop and execute plans to increase product specification, adoption, and standardization within assigned territories and key customer accounts.
- Partner with Product Managers, Territory Managers, Regional Sales Managers, Professional Tool Specialist Leads, and distribution partners to support strategic initiatives, qualified leads, and customer opportunities.
- Accurately document demonstrations, training activities, opportunities, presentations, and expenses using designated reporting and CRM tools.
- Identify customer challenges, recommend solutions that align with their needs, and share market insights, competitive information, and customer feedback with the broader sales team.
Requirements
- Experience with tool applications and a strong mechanical aptitude related to electrical, utility, plumbing, or similar tools. Strong preference given for experience/knowledge of electrical systems and related tools.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to synthesize large amounts of information into clear and concise messages.
- Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and influencing skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A proven track record of achieving goals and sales objectives.
- Strong time and territory management skills.
- The ability to travel 50%.
- To reside in the Baltimore, MD area in order to provide territory coverage.
- Ability to safely lift, carry, and maneuver various industrial tools and product inventory to unload, assemble/disassemble, and position equipment for live client demonstrations and trade shows.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook; CRM application experience is a plus.
- Experience in electrical, mechanical, plumbing, or other pipe trades.
- Experience working with distribution channels, particularly industrial, plumbing, and electrical channels.
