Professional Service Engineer

About the role

The Professional Service Engineer – Production & Automation Software is responsible for deploying software solutions to Oil and Gas customers, ensuring high‑quality service, compliance with corporate governance, and continuous improvement of health, safety, security, and environmental standards.

Responsibilities

• Install, upgrade, and configure SCADA and Production Optimization Systems.
• Build screens, workflows, and reports to support customer operations and SCADA hardware.
• Provide custom solutions, utilities, and system integration using scripts, along with procedural documentation and relevant reports.
• Perform root‑cause analysis of reported problems by debugging programs/scripts; correct issues or forward them to Development.
• Gain a firm understanding of Weatherford’s SCADA and Production Optimization products from the user perspective.
• Troubleshoot issues related to SCADA hardware and radio communications.
• Train users in system usage and administration.
• Assist field support and clients with software upgrades and configuration.
• Maintain the highest standards of corporate governance, adhering to Security, Compliance & HSE policies, relevant laws, regulations, standards, and industry practices.
• Seek continual improvement in health, safety, security, and environmental protection, exceeding customer expectations.
• Interact with customers to understand and troubleshoot product issues.
• Support third‑party application rollouts based on business needs.
• Maintain effective communications with all key internal and, where appropriate, external stakeholders.
• Ensure financial responsibility by managing expenses within approved budgets and following relevant financial policies.
• Develop personal career through required training, performance discussions, and skill‑enhancement activities.
• Demonstrate leadership, ethical behavior, and adherence to Weatherford standards at all times.

Skills & Education

• SQL Server Management experience.
• Experience deploying and debugging enterprise software in a Microsoft environment.
• Strong debugging knowledge of C#, SQL, and PowerShell.
• Experience with ETL techniques and tools.
• Experience integrating applications.
• Exposure to open‑source analytics.
• Exposure to software support.
• Experience troubleshooting and diagnosing hardware and software problems in a similar role.
• Microsoft Server OS knowledge.
• Knowledge of Windows programming environment.
• Knowledge of web security, authentication, and authorization.
• Ability to enhance or customize existing utilities and batch scheduling.
• Windows OS administration and support.
• Experience in the Oil and Gas industry – production and artificial lift.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Experience with SCADA protocols such as MODBUS, OPC, MQTT, etc.
• Experience with RTUs, PLCs, communication configuration, and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs.
