About the role

The Professional Practice and Development Coordinator supports lifelong nursing professional development, influences professional growth, and promotes the Magnet model. They foster an attitude of lifelong learning and integrate technology to support clinical practice.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the professional practice model and provides resources to achieve organizational goals.
  • Establishes relationships with the nursing care team to address concerns and promote structural empowerment.
  • Ensures nurses have the necessary knowledge and skills for exemplary professional practice.
  • Identifies educational needs and implements appropriate programs for specialty/units.
  • Administers, facilitates, conducts, and evaluates competency assessment programs.
  • Teaches the care process and appropriate standards of practice and care.
  • Develops, conducts, and evaluates unit education based on specific unit needs.
  • Serves as a resource for continued learning and professional self-development for staff and peers.
  • Implements and evaluates evidence-based practice to educate nurses on safe and best practices.
  • Participates in nursing research activities and supports organizational research activities.

Requirements

  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey.
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing required.
  • Certification within area of specialty required within 3 years of hire.
  • BLSHCP required.
  • Additional certifications as identified by the unit (e.g., ACLS, PALS).
  • 3-5 years clinical experience required; knowledge of adult teaching principles required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Leadership skills preferred.
  • Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire.

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in nursing required.
  • Experience: 3-5 years clinical experience required; knowledge of adult teaching principles required.
