Professional Geologist, Wichita
Agency: The Kansas Corporation Commission (KCC) has a vacancy for an unclassified Professional Geologist in the Conservation Division Central Office, located in Wichita, Kansas. The KCC regulates public utilities, motor carriers, oil and gas pipelines, and oil and natural gas production. Headquarters are in Topeka, with Conservation Division offices in Wichita, Dodge City, Chanute, and Hays.
About the role
This full-time, regular position is eligible for benefits and veterans' preference. The Professional Geologist will work in both the Production and Underground Injection Control (UIC) portions of the division.
Responsibilities
- Review and process Intents to Drill, Intents to Plug, and Plugging Reports.
- Administer Commission rules and regulations to protect correlative rights and prevent waste of oil and natural gas resources.
- Oversee each oil/gas well throughout its producing life, from drilling to plugging.
- Review and process UIC injection applications as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental, agricultural, or natural sciences/resources or a related field.
- Professional geology license recognized by the Kansas Board of Technical Professions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
- Experience proofreading, editing, and composing documents.
- Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to create and maintain positive working relationships.

Pay
$56,000 - $64,000 annually, depending on education, experience, or qualifications.
Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
