Description

Under general supervision, provides technical assistance to department/agency personnel by supporting and coordinating tasks related to office automation systems. This classification requires a working ability to do feasibility studies, problem analysis, conceptual systems design, micro-computer programming, occasional systems maintenance and repair, analysis and recommendations for purchase of new equipment and vendor liaison.

Examples Of Duties

  • Affords technical assistance for user interface of office systems and large computer systems with ITS specialists.
  • Coordinates software product and hardware configuration and installation of individual personal computers and/or local area network and data communications.
  • May perform feasibility studies, minor systems design and micro-computer application development as required by the department/agency.
  • May assist management of department/agency in establishing priorities and planning office automation needs.
  • May provide occasional systems maintenance and repair.
  • May perform micro-computer programming functions for users.
  • May train department/agency personnel on automated office systems use.
  • May troubleshoot ongoing department/agency problems associated with automated office systems and refer repairs to Information Systems staff.

Typical Qualifications

  • Level I: Some experience in automated office systems coordination which has led to the acquisition of the required knowledge, skills and abilities. The required knowledge, skills and abilities also can be obtained by completion of pertinent office systems coursework with two or more years of related experience;
  • Level II: Considerable experience in automated office systems coordination which has led to the acquisition of the required knowledge, skills and abilities. The required knowledge, skills and abilities also can be obtained by completion of pertinent office systems coursework with three or more years of related experience;

  • SUPPLEMENTAL QUESTIONNAIRE – qualifying: All applicants are required to complete and submit the supplemental questionnaire for this examination AT THE TIME OF FILING. The questionnaire may be used throughout the examination and selection process to assist in determining each applicant’s qualifications/acceptability/suitability for the position. Failure to complete and submit the questionnaire will result in your application being removed from further consideration.
  • APPLICATION EVALUATION – 100%: An application evaluation will be conducted to select a limited number of the most qualified applicants to continue through the examination process. A score will be assigned based upon established criteria. Depending on the number of qualified applicants, a passing score of 70% may be awarded for purposes of placement on the eligible list and subsequent certification to the department for an interview or for evaluation by an oral examination board. Regardless of method used, such score will be deemed the final score for placement on the eligible list.
  • Candidates successfully completing the examination process may be placed on an eligible list for a period of one (1) year.
