Responsibilities
- Provides and promotes service in a professional, courteous manner towards patients, visitors, and other staff members.
- Serves as a primary contact for area schools and colleges requiring clinical affiliation.
- Affords assistance to the decentralized clinical education team with educational programs, certification and competency evaluation.
- Fulfills the role of a mentor, role model and clinical resource, and provides feedback to the nursing leadership team for staff member and program evaluations.
- Facilitates programs which include staff development and enrichment, orientation / onboarding of new staff, student nurse clinical experiences, competency development, accreditation preparation, workforce planning and supporting new and existing clinical s
- Collaborates with the Director of Nursing Professional practice in the budget associated with AHA costs.
- Affords assistance with monitoring compliance of AHA credentials.
- Assigns clinical placement to local schools and colleges.
- Reports all trends to the Director of Nursing Professional Practice and Nursing Leadership.
- Collaborates with department Nurse Managers to develop and coordinate unit based and online education plans.
- Approves and monitors compliance with contact hour programming.
- Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- This position requires a minimum formal education of a Master’s degree, matriculated in a Masters in Nursing program.
- RN License in Connecticut required.
- Nursing Board Certification is required within one year of hire.
- Basic life Support (BLS) instructor and Advanced Life Support Instructor (ACLS) by the American Heart Association.
- Five years of recent acute care experience and demonstrates strong clinical and hands on skill.
- Skilled in EKG interpretation.
- Able to independently facilitate emergency drills using clinical simulation.
- Leadership experience and has Knowledge of regulatory requirements.
- Excellent communication skills, computer skills including word and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of adult learning principle.
- Ability to insure that educational activities are implemented and evaluated.
Qualifications
- Minimum Experience: five years
- Desired: Previous teaching experience preferred.
- Certification in Nursing Professional Development (NPD).
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Instructor.
Skills
- Anatomy experience and chemotherapy certification preferred.
