K-Star Asset Management LLC ("K-Star") is a wholly owned subsidiary of KKR, formed in 2022. K-Star supports the risk management of Asset-Based Finance investments, asset management, securities investing, and client experience for KKR’s Real Estate Credit franchise. The team includes industry specialists overseeing residential mortgage investments, consumer finance investments, special servicing, and loan asset management across KKR’s investment portfolios.

About the role

The Associate will join K-Star’s ABF Investment Management Services Team, focusing on Asset-Based Finance investments. This role is based in Dallas and collaborates regularly with KKR’s deal team. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of relevant experience at a financial institution with exposure to mortgage and/or consumer data. The position supports the Asset-Based Finance desk, assisting with data analysis, transaction settlements, and management of a $30bn portfolio. Strong communication and relationship-building skills are essential for interacting with the deal team and various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Asset-Based Finance group with data management related to consumer/mortgage loans.
  • Own and maintain the monthly remittance process, troubleshooting cash and data issues with trading counterparties, trustees, servicers, and middle office.
  • Identify, analyze, and correct data discrepancies to ensure data integrity on the existing portfolio and produce reports to monitor portfolio performance.
  • Assist in designing standard operating procedures and requirements for supporting technology.
  • Build out robust reporting to provide analytics and insights on the portfolio.
  • Analyze borrowing base calculations, concentration requirements, and hedging facilities across portfolios.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree.
  • 3-5 years of experience within the Financial Services industry with exposure to residential/consumer data.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Suite; SQL, Python, or other programming languages are a plus.
  • Strong personal initiative, exceptional organization, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to learn quickly and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Team-oriented with strong integrity and professionalism.
  • Experience and track record in process improvement and automation.
