About the role
This full-time Production Worker / Packaging Operator position involves performing bagging and baler operations. The role requires maintaining the ability to perform both functions as determined by Shift Leads.
Responsibilities
- Operate machinery in a productive manner using established safety guidelines and procedures
- Assist other production areas as needed
- Move and wrap completed products
- Lift up to 50 lbs and stand for a minimum of 7 hours per day
- Assist Shift Leads to start and stop pellet mills
- Communicate any moisture or material problems to Shift Lead
- Maintain a clean workstation
- Perform other duties as assigned
Bagging operation
- Operate a variety of machinery, primarily bagging and baler machines, shrink wrapping machines, forklifts, pallet jack, and bag sealer
- Stack bags on pallets, put covers on pallets, and place finished goods in the correct warehouse location
- Accurately complete the Bagger production report
- Fill pellet sample cups every ton for quality control information
- Tag pallets with Quality Control tag including initials, date, ton number, and shift
Baler operation
- Stack bales on pallets, seal bales with an iron, and wrap pallets
- Accurately complete the Baler Operator production report
- Check bale weight and record information on reports and quality control tags
Forklift operator responsibilities
- Operate forklift in the warehouse and other production areas to move, transport, and stack wrapped pallets of wood pellets in a neat and orderly fashion
- Operate forklift to load trucks for delivery, ensuring all required paperwork is filled out and signed
- Count and record pallets for inventory purposes
- Stack junk pallets until they can be disposed of properly
- Maintain communication with co-workers and control room leads on status of work
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED preferred
- Prior forklift and production line experience preferred
- Good eye, hand, and foot coordination required
- Must pass company forklift training
- Ability to read and interpret scales
- Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills to adjust weight and timing of baler and address various other simple maintenance problems
- Ability to perform simple math calculations
Pay
$19.00/hour
Schedule
Monday through Thursday, 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM
