About the role
Operate machines and equipment to produce parts to required tolerances, install specified components, and maintain quality and safety standards in a manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Follow all plant safety rules and regulations; utilize proper PPE at all times
- Produce continuous quality parts and ensure all quality procedures are followed
- Comply with ISO 9001 requirements and complete manufacturing/quality documents
- Communicate internally concerning deviations or general requests
- Assist in 5S and lean manufacturing practices
- Verify compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations; complete required reports
- Independently operate machines and equipment to produce parts to required tolerances
- Read and comprehend customer specification sheets; anticipate next orders and stage supplies/products as needed
- Install plugs, capseals, rings, and other specified parts or materials
- Use various hand tools safely and efficiently, including air guns, plug wrenches, and capseal tools, while maintaining production flow
- Demonstrate acceptable capabilities in all areas during general labor rotation
- Report product, material, or safety concerns immediately to Production Manager, SHEQ, or Plant Manager
- Use company systems for reporting production, scrap, inventory, etc.
- Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe working area
- Attend all required meetings and trainings
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Prior experience in industrial manufacturing
- Problem-solving skills with a focus on innovation and efficiency improvements
- Strong verbal communication skills to interact with operators, maintenance, and management
- Ability to complete production, quality, and inventory reports legibly
- Proficiency in basic math: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, and ratios
- Familiarity with internal manufacturing systems
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. as needed throughout the shift
- Ability to stand, kneel/stoop, and walk for the duration of the shift
- Good hand/eye/foot coordination required
- Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, loud environments, fumes, airborne particles, and outside weather conditions
- 20/20 corrected vision and normal hearing range
- Ability to work in non-climate controlled environments (cold in winter, hot in summer)
Personal Protective Equipment
- Steel or composite-toed boots
- Safety glasses
- Gloves (latex, work gloves, etc.)
- Hearing protection
- Cut-resistant sleeves
- Properly fitted clothing
- Hard hat (in designated areas)
