About the Role
This position ensures compliance with company operations, laws, regulations, and standards, including environmental, health, and safety initiatives. The role involves maintaining and troubleshooting automated and semi-automated machinery, performing preventive maintenance, and supporting production efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Perform machine and systems troubleshooting and repair; assist with specification, installation, and modification of integrated systems.
- Perform diagnostic checks on automated equipment; isolate problems including sensors, controllers, encoders, servomotors, and/or servo valves.
- Make repairs to production equipment utilizing skills in controls, drawings, electrical, general mechanics, hand tools, hydraulics, machine shop, piping systems, pneumatics, and welding.
- Complete shift start-up paperwork such as process parameters, traceability, and start-up checklists.
- Conduct preventive maintenance tasks, including all Level I required tasks as per MP.
- Understand machine MO, PC, WP, STM, and Interim Specifications.
- Perform changeovers, including line clearance of components and tooling changeouts.
- Fill component hoppers and complete necessary traceability paperwork.
- Pull inspection test samples and stage for QC Operator.
- Engage in machine troubleshooting on all assigned stations, including bevel mold, pin & heater block changeout, and bevel trim adjustments.
- Update hourly production boards with production and efficiency numbers for all Mods; note issues that prevented goal attainment (downtime, waste, quality, etc.).
- Process warehouse ordering of components and pull tooling for changeovers.
- Submit machine repair tags to identify issues requiring support services.
- Perform all functions of a Team Operator when required.
- Assist with training of new Technicians.
- Maintain 5S standards in assigned work areas.
- Model company values and support strategic initiatives.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or required.
- Engage in Environmental, Health, and Safety initiatives, focusing on continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Proficiency in multiple skill clusters, including electronics, mechanical systems, and manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of tools and components used in the maintenance and repair of mechanical systems.
- Experience in troubleshooting simple to complex motor control relays, contactors, and jog circuits.
- Knowledge of automated and semi-automated machinery and processes.
- Sound judgment in the execution of technical/troubleshooting issues.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Good interpersonal skills to facilitate communication at various levels within the organization.
- Understanding of computers and computerized controls.
- Ability to learn new technologies and perform continuous improvement activities.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High School Diploma or GED required; technical school background desirable.
- Up to 3 years of manufacturing experience; previous experience with automated and semi-automated equipment preferred.
Work Environment
- Work involves use of manufacturing equipment or close proximity to equipment.
- May be exposed to biohazards and/or chemicals.
- Work environment can range from clean rooms with proper gowning requirements to production areas that are open, potentially noisy, and with moving equipment.
- Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs. and push/pull up to 80 lbs.
- Recurring physical demands include standing, walking, stooping, crouching, climbing, and bilateral motion involving hands, wrists, and upper body.
- Concentrated visual attention to perform checks on products and components.
- Typically requires travel less than 5% of the time.
