Production Technician- 3rd Shift

About the role

As a Production Technician, you'll help produce and package the industry's finest coffee by operating roasting and packaging equipment, performing quality checks, maintaining equipment, and following established production and food safety standards. This role is essential to delivering consistently exceptional coffee while supporting a safe, efficient, and high-quality manufacturing environment.

Schedule

This position works 3rd shift, Monday–Friday from 11:30pm–7:00am.

Pay

Hourly wage: $20–$22/hour.

Responsibilities

• Process coffee as the production schedule demands in roasting, grinding, or packaging.
• Ensure the assigned workstation operates within workplace safety and food safety standards set by Peet’s Coffee and oversight regulatory agencies.
• Ensure product quality by completing all Quality Control Point monitoring tasks according to established procedures for the assigned workstation.
• Complete and submit all quality assurance monitoring tasks and production records required for the assigned operating workstation.
• Work cooperatively to ensure workplace safety and product quality while meeting production goals for the assigned workstation.
• Increase productivity and efficiency without compromising team safety or product quality.
• Communicate issues pertinent to production performance, quality, or workplace safety directly to the Roastery Team Lead, Production Supervisor, or Production Manager.
• Communicate issues concerning equipment faults or failures directly to the Engineering Department for immediate repair or future preventive maintenance.
• Assign, train, and monitor daily Production Team Member and Temporary Worker performance and task completion for the assigned workstation.
• Maintain established standards of cleanliness and sanitation for the assigned workstation and the facility.
• Participate in all workstation development opportunities to increase technical abilities and strengthen craft-level skills.
• Demonstrate a full understanding of all Food Safety and related programs, such as but not limited to GMPs, SSOPs, and Adverse Health Policy.
• Demonstrate a full understanding of all Workplace Safety policies and Standard Work Procedures.
• Participate in the training of new Team Members to facilitate their success.
• Demonstrate full knowledge to operate one or two Packaging Lines, Roasting machines, or Grinding machines.
• Willingness to work overtime as needed, including Saturdays.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• 1 year of hands-on production experience in a machine technician, machine operator, or production operations leadership role.
• Ability to read, understand, and follow production documentation, work instructions, and safety procedures.
• Basic proficiency in math, reading, and written communication.
• Basic computer skills and ability to navigate standard workplace systems.
• 1 year of coffee industry or food manufacturing experience is strongly desired.

Physical Requirements

• Sitting, standing, bending, lifting, and moving intermittently during working hours.
• Must be able to work 8-hour shifts while standing, lifting, bending, and reaching.
• Must be able to work on your feet over 9 straight hours.
• Able to perform physical tasks that are repetitive and lift up to 30 lbs. on a regular basis.
• Must be able to lift 80 pounds 20% of the shift.
• Must be able to endure constant leaning and bending during shift.
• Must be able to handle/move up to 750-pound bins on casters.
