About the role
A Production Technician assists the extrusion operator in efficiently operating extrusion equipment and producing quality products within a large, 24/7 manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to accident-free operations and compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements and regulations.
- Assist the department in producing a quality product based on product specifications; complete production operator reports with high attention to detail.
- Monitor, complete, and document quality checks to ensure product standards (color, surface, size, etc.) are met prior to packaging.
- Perform placement of pallets, proper packaging techniques, and attach labels for finished material according to process instructions and product specifications.
- Communicate daily issues and pertinent information to production assistants, assistant operators, operators, and team leaders as needed.
- Understand and follow all company policies, practices, and procedures.
- Perform housekeeping duties in the production area.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED required.
- 1+ years of manufacturing experience preferred, but no prior experience is necessary.
- Ability to read, write, and understand English.
- Basic mathematical proficiency in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers and fractions.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, read gauges, and use similar measuring devices.
- Ability to perform physical demands of the job, including pushing, pulling, lifting, and manipulating 10–100 lbs.
- Ability to stand for an entire shift; kneeling, lifting overhead, bending, climbing, and crawling are often required.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment where temperatures can become very hot depending on the weather.
- Must be self-directed, motivated, and able to multitask in a fast-paced, 24/7 manufacturing environment.
- Ability and interest in working a 2-2-3 schedule.
Pay
Starting wage: $20 per hour plus a 10% night shift differential.
