About the role

Provide operational support services and sometimes act as first-line supervisor of a transactional operations area. Involves using existing systems and protocols. Operate complex machines and systems, adjusting processes to optimize quality and productivity. Generate solutions to complex inefficiencies. Contribute data and information to production plans. Run reports, check accuracy, and distribute information.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team performing routine work; conduct employee training in equipment operations or work and safety procedures or assign employee training to experienced workers.
• Follow the organization’s EHS policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions to identify and mitigate environmental risks and risks to the well-being of oneself and others in the workplace; instruct the team in safe working methods; identify instances of risky behaviors within the team and take appropriate action, escalating serious issues as appropriate.
• Ensure work is completed to the required standards of productivity, quality, and timeliness; support the quality function by working within strict quality standards.
• Provide instruction and informal advice to less experienced colleagues within the team to develop their skills.
• Develop knowledge and understanding of the organization’s policies and procedures and of relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct to ensure own work adheres to those standards. Obtain authorization from a supervisor or manager for any exceptions from mandatory procedure.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, analytical, conflict resolution, time management, and communication skills.
• Sound experience and understanding of straightforward procedures or systems (7 to 12 months).
• Basic experience of coordinating the work of others (4 to 6 months).

Physical demands

• Constant standing up to 12 hours per day.
• Frequent walking, bending, stooping, squatting.
• Occasional reaching overhead when handling glass.
• Frequent reaching, pushing, pulling away from body.
• Frequent pushing with minimal or maximum force to maneuver glass down the production line on rollers.
• Lift, move, or carry up to 90 lbs.
• Frequent repetitive hand, foot, head, neck movements required.
• Temperatures will vary. Dusty and noisy environment when operating machines and tools.
• Steel-toe safety shoes, ear, and eye protection required at all times in all plants. Additional personal protective equipment may be required.
