Job Responsibilities
- Captures daily production activities including job assignments and rotations.
- Collaborates with Area Leader before shift start-up for updates on line status, absentee/tardiness calls, and changes to work areas/equipment.
- Holds daily pre-shift meetings to inform associates of changes, daily requirements, and to foster involvement in workplace issues.
- Ensures completion of TPM/Daily Care activities, safety checks, tip changes, etc. as scheduled.
- Audits first-off and last-off procedures for all processes daily and addresses failures promptly.
- Prepares production lines for the next shift, ensuring necessary PPE and supplies are available.
- Trains and ensures adherence to standardized work processes for Production Associates.
- Monitors and ensures adherence to Company 5S procedures.
- Performs Layered Process Audits (LPA) as required and resolves non-conformances.
- Communicates and ensures adherence to Quality Alert System, participating in problem-solving and administering the fast response board.
- Handles non-confirming product according to Company procedures and ensures its proper dispositioning.
- Responds to Andon alerts and other issues, gaining understanding, requesting support, and leading quick resolutions.
- Maintains awareness of safety, quality, timing, cost, and motivation KPI targets and responds to underperformance with urgency.
- Applies systematic problem-solving methods to achieve permanent corrective actions and continuous improvement.
- Supports Kaizen events, Value Stream Mapping efforts, and other continuous improvement activities.
- Completes administrative duties, ensuring timely and thorough completion of work.
- Reports non-conformances to Company policies and procedures and participates in appropriate corrective actions.
- Fosters teamwork within the department, promoting respect, collaboration, and effective communication among team members.
- Supports the Return-to-Work (R-T-W) program and ensures employees adhere to their R-T-W plans.
- Monitors supplier safety during operations and attends departmental and plant-wide meetings.
Qualifications
- High school degree or equivalent vocational/trade school education in Manufacturing, Production, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years manufacturing/operations experience.
- Knowledge of and basic skills in lean manufacturing principles and problem-solving methods.
- Understanding of basic OSHA and safety practices in a manufacturing environment.
- Basic knowledge of automotive quality terms and measuring methods.
- Practical experience with computers and Microsoft Office.
- Good math skills and ability to analyze data.
- Strong listening and communication (verbal and written) skills.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and with a variable workload.
- Physical capability to perform essential duties of the job.
