Responsibilities

  • Coach safety, quality, and productivity to ensure objectives are met through following standardized work.
  • Optimize throughput in accordance with budgets and cost objectives.
  • Support Kaizen (Continuous Improvement) and coach problem resolution to the lowest level.
  • Meet FTT, inventory, cost, scrap, supply, and tooling expense targets.
  • Build Team Leader and Team Member capability and create a conducive work environment for team responsibilities.
  • Administer supervisory responsibilities and documents.
  • Coordinate Safety Operating System activities, including overhead safety, lifting, rigging, and Energy Control and Lockout procedures.
  • Lead skilled trades/die maintenance personnel to evaluate Die Readiness requirements for maintaining and improving production yields, output, and uptime.
  • Supervise preventative maintenance schedules, inspections, and repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Coordinate and schedule manpower and materials to meet maintenance requirements and minimize downtime.
  • Monitor day-to-day production processes, including draw panel formability, last hit process, and contamination investigation.
  • Apply expertise in draw die forming, maintenance of beads, trim steels, and pierce operations.
  • Coordinate major and minor die repairs and determine root causes of downtime issues.
  • Assist and teach die maintenance troubleshooting techniques to improve mean time between failure and mean time to repair.
  • Ensure start-up readiness for production and coordinate maintenance activities with other plant operations.
  • Identify and correct safety hazards and unsafe practices.
  • Assign work to unionized hourly workforce and hold employees accountable for following processes related to safety, quality, and throughput.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Fundamental working knowledge of major automotive die forming.
  • Ability to work any shift, including rotating shifts and weekends.
  • High School Diploma.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Capability to assign work to a unionized hourly workforce and hold employees accountable for daily work assignments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or completion of Die Maker apprenticeship.
  • 3-5 years of automotive experience.
  • Body shop/stamping/subassembly experience.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Knowledge of constraint management principles.
  • Microsoft Office knowledge (Word/Excel/Outlook).
  • Prior experience managing a unionized workforce.
