Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise toolmakers, machinists, and Jig Shop personnel.
- Oversee the design, construction, modification, and repair of tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
- Review and interpret engineering drawings and CAD models (AutoCAD preferred).
- Manage preventive maintenance programs to ensure tooling reliability and reduce downtime.
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to support manufacturing needs.
- Troubleshoot tooling issues and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain inventory of tooling components, materials, and spare parts.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and quality requirements.
- Develop and manage department budgets, schedules, and resource planning.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives related to tooling processes and equipment.
Accountabilities
- Take ownership of tool and die operations end-to-end.
- Offer solutions and follow through on commitments and corrective actions.
- Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations for all direct reports.
- Lets meet or exceed personal monthly, quarterly, and annual performance goals.
Qualifications
- Minimum Education Requirement: Associate degree or technical certification in Tool & Die, Manufacturing Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum Experience Requirement: 5 years of experience in tool and die making, machining, or precision manufacturing. 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience.
- Required Outside Training/Certifications/Registrations: Technical certification in Tool & Die, Manufacturing Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or related field preferred in lieu of degree.
Skills
- Proficiency with AutoCAD or similar CAD software.
- Strong understanding of machining processes, CNC equipment, and tooling principles.
- Excellent problem solving, communication, and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of safety standards, quality systems, and lean manufacturing.
- PREFERRED SKILLS: Experience with GD&T and blueprint reading, familiarity with CAM software and CNC programming, background in high-volume manufacturing, ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
