Production Supervisor - Rendering - 2nd Shift

About the role

The Rendering Supervisor oversees the rendering process, operating procedures, and working conditions on 2nd shift. This position supervises rendering employees in a processing environment, ensuring daily production and quality targets are met while adhering to company, customer, and government specifications.

Responsibilities

• Lead team members in producing quality products according to company criteria.
• Implement and maintain safety standards as required by law and company policy.
• Direct job-related training and ensure company job rotation minimums are met.
• Use strong communication skills to coach and guide team members, resolving issues and implementing corrective actions.
• Foster a high-morale workplace with ethical standards, treating all team members with dignity and respect.
• Manage completion of production schedules as determined by the superintendent or designee.
• Ensure adherence to processing procedures for quality and safety.
• Maintain discipline and accountability to meet company and customer goals.
• Monitor and improve production processes to meet quality and quantity goals.
• Utilize problem-solving techniques and process control tools to meet or exceed production schedules.
• Facilitate workflow management, workforce scheduling, and placement to meet facility and company goals.
• Conduct or lead process audits, implementing corrective and preventive actions to minimize process deviations.
• Maintain team member compliance with company policies, safety standards, and good housekeeping.
• Collaborate with other supervisors to ensure facility efficiency.
• Assist with pre-operation activities as directed.
• Perform other duties as needed or required.

Requirements

• Minimum of a High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• 1+ years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment; meat processing preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude to direct and delegate equipment issue corrections.
• Knowledge of USDA and HACCP procedures.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to climb ladders and stairs in extreme heat.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work in extreme hot, cold, wet, humid, and odorous environments.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, extensive overtime, and weekends.
• Good computer literacy and ability to write clear, concise reports.
• Results-driven and employee-oriented.
• Commitment to safety policies and wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Uphold company policies and ethical standards.
• Strong leadership, motivational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Work Environment

This role involves exposure to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The work environment can be loud, requiring hearing protection. The position regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in cold, hot, and outdoor conditions, including inclement weather, heat, humidity, and dust.

Physical Demands

• Lift heavy objects and stand or walk for long periods under adverse field conditions.
• Use abdominal and lower back muscles to lift, push, pull, or carry objects without fatigue.
• Good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, fingers, and two hands) and multi-limb coordination.
• Ability to quickly move arms and legs.
• Excellent stamina and vision.
