Principal Accountabilities
- Adhere to process control procedures, operating instructions, and quality control instructions.
- Safely manufacture a quality product with minimal scrap or rework, meeting customer specifications.
- Ensure safety in the areas of supervision, maintain a safe work environment, emphasize accident prevention.
- Plan, organize, and supervise shift operations efficiently according to production schedules and immediate supervisor’s requirements.
- Maintain awareness of policies and procedures, ensure compliance by assigned employees.
- Achieve target earned hours and meet or exceed budget criteria.
- Develop, train, and involve employees in maintaining and improving departmental efficiency, productivity, quality, safety, cooperation, and morale.
- Maintain employee attendance to ensure adequate staffing meets required production schedules.
- Resolve employee grievances, provide necessary feedback on performance, conduct formal performance appraisals, and recommend pay increases, transfers, and promotions within legal guidelines.
- Interview and hire qualified individuals in accordance with state and federal laws.
- Ensure adequate equipment and supplies are available for subordinates.
Qualifications
- High school diploma plus college-level courses or equivalent training in manufacturing, accounting, mathematics, and statistics.
- Additional training in motivation, problem-solving, and group behavior, or completion of a PCC Certificate program.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Business preferred.
- Two to five years' experience in related production operations with good ability to facilitate team problem-solving and communicate orally and in writing.
- Process improvement and Lean Six Sigma experience highly preferred.
Individuals may have contact with or be required to handle hazardous waste. May be required to complete hazardous waste management training.
