About the role

Trident Seafoods is North America's largest vertically integrated seafood harvesting and processing company. Headquartered in Seattle, Washington, Trident employs approximately 7,700 people worldwide and partners with over 2,700 independent fishermen and crewmembers in Alaska. The Production Supervisor plans, directs, coordinates, and controls activities of workers engaged in production and supports production-related issues in the plant for year-round production and seasonal fresh processing. This position requires a working knowledge of HACCP, GFSI, and other safety and quality systems.

Responsibilities

  • Studies production schedules and estimates staffing, duty assignments, and inventory requirements in coordination with the Production Manager.
  • Develops a process plan including people, resources, equipment, and floor space.
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Coordinates manpower requirements by increasing or decreasing personnel and overtime to meet changing conditions.
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
  • Maintains time and production records.
  • Performs activities of workers supervised.
  • Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
  • Responds to grievances and works with subordinates and the Production Manager to discuss and eliminate problems.
  • Acquires knowledge of Trident’s Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs.
  • Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 3 years of experience in a manufacturing production environment with specific experience leading production lines.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (or degree).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Supervisorial experience in the food industry.
  • Seafood industry experience.

Skills

  • Deep understanding of assembly lines, plant machinery, operational workflows, and raw material handling.
  • Thorough grasp of OSHA guidelines, hazard identification, and workplace safety protocols.
  • Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Ability to conduct root-cause analysis and execute fast corrective actions when appropriate.
  • Skill in prioritizing daily targets, scheduling shifts, and tracking Key Performance Indicators (KPI).
  • Capacity to make sound, rapid decisions during unexpected equipment breakdowns or tight production deadlines.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Frequently required to climb or balance.
  • Occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear.
  • May regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
