Production Supervisor- 2nd Shift
About the role
The Production Supervisor oversees the day-to-day operations within a diverse and talented manufacturing team for one of our legacy sites within the metal solutions business unit. This position is a 2nd shift, 6pm-2:30am, Monday through Friday. OT as needed.
Responsibilities
- Facilitates the manufacture of building products to meet production demands, while ensuring quality, safety, and productivity
- Collaborates with plant leadership to develop staffing guidelines, optimizing resource utilization while controlling costs
- Hires, supervises, evaluates, and replaces staff as required to meet performance goals
- Develops and trains employees for increasing responsibilities, conducts periodic evaluations, and holds safety and production meetings daily. Drives initiatives of 5S, cost reduction, and quality improvement
- Conducts Interviews and identifies qualified candidates for hire
- Sets up personnel, oversees rotations, and maintains effective communication during shift changes and troubleshooting
- Ensures accurate completion of paperwork related to line operation, including logs, audits, and corrective actions
- Readily addresses any urgent production or shipping requirements, even if it disrupts the regular workflow
- Knowledge and understanding of all safety polices and regulations and ability to address all unsafe acts and conditions
- Administers policies fairly and consistently
- Provides coaching and counselling to employees and corrective action when needed, following company guidelines
- Promotes overall goals of company in safety, quality, delivery, and cost
- Identifies and assists with implementations for continuous process improvement. Uses data to improve and refine production process
- Manages materials to reduce waste and support quality
- Collaborates with other departments to ensure timely job completions
- Highly developed oral and written communication skills, combines with the ability to educate and train employees in a production environment
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required
- 2 – Year associate degree or a bachelor's degree in related field preferred but not required
- Minimum of two years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, required
- Demonstrated ability to supervise, motivate, mentor and train employees on a regular basis
- Must have basic Microsoft knowledge
- Experience with side forklift, bander, nail gun, overhead crane, saws, stretch wrap machine, and various pneumatic equipment preferred, not required
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a continual basis above shoulder height and below the waist
- Mobile - prolonged periods of time on feet, standing, bending, etc.
- Exposure - moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and non-climate-controlled environment
- Noise Tolerance - High noise levels
