Production Supervisor - 1st Shift
Main Purpose of Job
The primary purpose of this job is to coordinate activities of production team members including product line(s) or production shift of significant size and volumes to ensure that production requirements, performance goals, and improvement objectives are achieved. Additionally, may have accountabilities for special projects, research and analysis at a high level.
Job Responsibilities
- Adheres to Viant’s Core Beliefs and all safety and quality requirements.
- Provides direction in the resolution of technical and production-related problems to assure completion of weekly schedules that meet or exceed Company and Customer expectations.
- Maintains alignment of product or line(s) with master production schedule and material planning to meet production goals.
- Participates in customer facing activities including the SIOP and MOR.
- Facilitates continuous improvement activities including Kaizen events.
- Maintains departmental performance measures, including visual controls and provides regular progress reports.
- Ensures work orders are closed in Oracle and data is accurate.
- Ensures adherence to policies and procedures.
- Supervises Associates (20+) in a manner that fosters a safe work environment and self-directed team approach.
- Communicates regularly with Plant management on production, facility, and Associate accomplishments and/or concerns.
- Identifies, arranges, and/or provides training to ensure a safe, efficient, quality work environment with focus on continuous improvement through Lean manufacturing principles.
- Facilitates communication, coordination, and conflict resolution within and among work groups.
- Provides leadership to Associates in all areas including hiring, performance management, reviews, coaching, counseling, and corrective actions.
- Aids in the analysis of production and related processes and makes recommendations on improvements and organization of process improvement activity through the application of Six-Sigma & Lean Manufacturing methodologies.
- Promotes an atmosphere of diversity, open communication, and trust, affording opportunities for training and growth.
- Remains flexible to the needs of the business and performs other functions as required.
- Backs up the Operations Manager when needed.
Position Requirements
- Knowledge/Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent. Associates, Bachelor Degree in Operations/Engineering or Business preferred.
- Job Experience: At least 5 years’ experience in relevant manufacturing preferred.
- Skills/Competencies: Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to read and write in English. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Performs basic arithmetic calculations. Ability to work well independently and with fellow team members. Attention to detail and organization skills. Finger dexterity - the ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small components.
Physical Requirements
- Excellent vision and hand-eye coordination.
- Extended periods of bending, lifting, sitting, and standing.
- Significant use of hands.
- Occasionally required to lift up to 40 lbs.
- Must be able and willing to wear personal protective equipment as required including: Protective eyewear, Protective gowning (i.e: Hairnet, Safety Shoes covers, Gown/Apron, Safety Glasses, gloves).
