Production Supervisor - 1st Shift

The Production Department Supervisor oversees department operations to meet cost, profit, and production goals, while training and developing employees. This role relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish objectives with some creativity and latitude, working under managerial supervision.

Responsibilities

• Manages production operations across multiple departments and shifts.
• Leads and motivates employees for maximum productivity.
• Identifies, researches, and resolves problems and opportunities.
• Evaluates individual and program performance.
• Coaches and counsels employees.
• Ensures compliance with UFP policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
• Communicates with employees and management as needed.
• Manages department costs, profitability, and inventory.
• Drives continuous improvement and safety initiatives.
• Prepares reports and maintains records.
• Participates in Safety Committee and enforces safety standards.
• Handles hazardous materials if assigned to the Treating Department.
• May operate a forklift to move materials.
• Performs other duties as required.

Requirements

• Post-high school education required.
• 3–5 years of manufacturing experience.
• 1–3 years of people management experience.
• Ability to set agendas, manage timelines, and use visual aids effectively.
• Strong communication skills, including clear speaking, active listening, and questioning.
• Proficiency in Inside UFPI, Citrix, and email etiquette.
• Expertise in the Precise Plant Quality Program, including quality training and troubleshooting.
• Attention to detail in production reporting, accuracy checks, and double-check systems.
• Ability to maintain daily routines while adapting to flexible periods.
• Daily communication with employees to convey expectations and hold them accountable.
• Commitment to safety, including JDA/JSA collaboration and LOTO procedures.
• Knowledge of continuous improvement (CI) principles like 5S and TPM.
• Technical understanding of machinery, preventative maintenance, and standard work instructions.
• Ability to provide feedback, identify advancement opportunities, and conduct employee reviews.
• Strong training skills with emphasis on safety and safeguards.
• Self-awareness to reflect and improve.
• Must complete forklift driver licensing.

Pay

Hourly pay range: $28.00 – $32.00, dependent on experience. Range may adjust based on cost of living.

Bonus/Incentive Pay
