About the Role

Responsible for all mixing, baking, forming, and packaging activities to safely produce quality products with efficient use of labor and materials on scheduled shifts and lines.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise assigned team of employees, including overall direction, coordination, and evaluation. Directly supervise non-supervisory (lead) employees.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning work, appraising performance, rewarding, disciplining, and resolving issues.
  • Apply working knowledge of SQF, GMP policies, SAP processes, OSHA/MiOSHA regulations, HFS HPS/LEAN tools, and Microsoft Office.
  • Direct the conversion of raw materials to finished products with minimal waste and labor cost.
  • Control raw material formula consistency and monitor proper inventory rotation of raw materials and packaging.
  • Maintain a 5S environment and manage production employees’ work hours, scheduling, and payroll-related issues.
  • Comply with customer service and company standards.
  • Review production orders or schedules to plan operations based on product types, quantities, and delivery dates.
  • Plan production operations, establish priorities, and resolve operational or manufacturing problems to minimize costs and prevent delays.
  • Inspect machines and equipment to ensure operational performance and optimum utilization.
  • Resolve employee complaints or escalate unsettled issues to the Employee & Community Relations Manager. Handle disciplinary actions and disputes.
  • Train, develop, and evaluate employees to meet future needs.
  • Attend meetings and make presentations as needed.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and comply with all safety, health, and environmental regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Two-year college degree in business preferred.
  • Three to five years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment; bakery or food/beverage experience a plus.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word) and SAP; Kronos timekeeping system experience a plus.
  • Excellent communication, conflict management, decision-making, motivational, and organizational skills.
  • Strong self-confidence and leadership skills.
  • Basic mechanical skills.
  • Ability to work a designated shift schedule, including every other weekend rotation.
  • Legal authorization to work in the applied location (sponsorship not available).

  • Ability to use hands and fingers, with repetitive reaching overhead, under, and across throughout the shift.
  • Ability to see, hear, and talk; distinguish colors.
  • Good hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity for repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs and push/pull items up to 2600 lbs with assistance.
  • Walk up to 400 yards to work and break areas; may climb steps.
  • Repetitive bending, stooping, and twisting throughout the shift.
  • Stand for eight hours per shift.
  • Physical and mental ability to work in excess of 40 hours per week.
  • Perform general housekeeping, including sweeping and mopping.
