Key Responsibilities
- Performs the Make, Buy and / or Bill of Material (BOM) planning activities associated with Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) transactions.
- Maintains production systems integrity to drive inventory optimization to minimize cost.
- Expedites and optimizes material flow through the supply chain to meet customer requirements.
- Covers shop floor control on make parts, executes the plan, provides timely status, and either expedites or creates a work around plan to preserve schedule.
- Collaborates with supply chain stakeholders including Procurement and Operations management to determine appropriate time phased plan for procured parts and executes processes to ensure deliverables meet production schedule requirements.
- Collaborates with Engineering and Change Control Board to make the associated changes to the BOM.
- Manages inventory levels, schedules, and availability of selected items, either manufactured or purchased, to meet production schedules.
- Interacts with manufacturing personnel, the purchasing department, and supervisors on material status and production planning issues.
- Performs cost analysis to support customer quote requests.
- Maintains MRP forecasts, inventory, customer demand, production requirements, inventory transactions, and rejected material.
- Sets up, maintains, and adjusts Kanban programs according to MRP reports, ensuring appropriate inventory management practices and cost-effective operations.
- Creates and maintains MRP classification codes in addition to reviewing BOM accuracy to ensure correct component identification, ordering, and release.
- Generates initial demand for purchasing of parts and raw materials while providing WIP work orders directly to the production floor.
- Coordinates all WIP inventory efforts and reconciles post-inventory.
- Maintains ERP system parameters including material master data and performance criteria.
- Creates and maintains logistics support programs and identifies and resolves problems in the customer return system prior to implementation.
- Analyzes and escalates the requirements of the BOM, including preliminary specifications/documentation and required dates.
- Evaluates, approves, and executes ad hoc material transaction requests.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent experience
- Strong data analysis and systems aptitude, including the ability to work with complex spreadsheets, CSV import files, and ERP master data
- Ability to understand relationships between data sets, including item masters, bills of material, routings, inventory records, purchase data, work orders, and MRP outputs
- Advanced Excel skills required, including lookups, pivot tables, data validation, structured tables, and reconciliation of large data sets
- Must be able to identify cause-and-effect relationships within ERP/MRP transactions and understand how data changes impact purchasing, inventory, production planning, and work order execution
- Oracle NetSuite experience required
- Excellent communication skills – written and verbal
- Able to prioritize projects and strong problem-solving skills
