Production Operator

About the role

The Production Operator at PPG Industries, Grand Haven, MI, is responsible for manufacturing quality powder coatings in a manufacturing environment. Key responsibilities include operating and maintaining manufacturing equipment, ensuring product quality, and adhering to safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Weights raw material components according to a specific formula on a batch ticket.
• Mixes raw materials in powder coating mixing machines and loads them into containers.
• Cleans and prepares mixing machines for the next operation.
• Operates and cleans extruder machinery to meet product specifications.
• Grinds and packages finished products, and cleans and maintains milling equipment.
• Participates in the PPG Quality Process.
• Ensures compliance with safety standards and operates in a safe manner.
• Performs other general tasks as directed by supervision.

Requirements

• Successful completion of the employment selection process.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to operate various industrial production-related equipment.
• Good math and mechanical skills.
• Flexibility to rotate work assignments.
• Forklift operation certification.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Problem-solving skills, decision-making capability, and focus on details.
