Production Operator

About the role

Stryten Energy is hiring Production Operators and Production Workers at its Salina, Kansas facility. The plant produces more than 35,000 quality batteries per day, used in various vehicles and equipment. Stryten supports the community through various programs and regularly employs over 800 people.

Responsibilities

• Work safely and efficiently in production departments like assembly, pasting, oxide, and formation.
• Learn other positions on the line and take pride in work.
• Handle battery parts, envelope materials, elements, and batteries weighing from grams to 50 pounds.
• Process 1000-2400 batteries per 10-hour shift.
• Work with a multiple-person team in an area containing electrical powered machinery, torches, lead melting pots, conveyors, computers, and ventilation equipment.
• Understand and communicate in basic English to receive training, instructions, and perform team responsibilities.
• Recognize and record scrap during shift when required.
• Fill out JD Edwards reconciliation form, end of shift.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area in accordance with 5s requirements.
• Comply with safety and health regulations for the protection of self and fellow workers.
• Follow Lean Manufacturing Procedures.
• Comply with current Quality Systems requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Management Team.

• Must be able to work from 10 inches to 60 inches above the floor and reach 24 inches side to side.

Skills

• Mechanical aptitude is a plus.

Pay

The starting pay rate is $23.96 per hour.

Schedule

• A Shift: Day: Sun-Tues, every other Wed
• B Shift: Night: Sun-Tues, every other Wed
• C Shift: Day: Thurs-Sat, every other Wed
• D Shift: Night: Thurs-Sat, every other Wed

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred
• Previous Manufacturing or Related Experience Preferred
• Mechanical Aptitude Preferred

Physical Requirements

• Frequent lifting from grams to 50 pounds
• Frequent bending, lifting, pushing, stooping and pulling
• Continuous Standing and Walking for 10-hour shift
• Must be able to wear personal protective equipment such as gloves, respirator, safety glasses, and metatarsal guard shoes, etc., as required in established policy
• May sometimes be exposed to extreme environmental conditions (hot, cold, humid)
• Must work from 10 inches to 60 inches above the floor and reach 24 inches side to side
