Production Operator

About the role
The production operator performs various duties associated with the assembly of switch machines along with sub assemblies involving numerous tools and presses with the assistance of prints and work instructions.
Responsibilities
- Utilize and interpret engineering mechanical schematics, plans, and prints to assemble and wire railroad products for railroad signaling.
- Work from complex written instructions, drawings, and/or documentation to determine methods of mechanical builds.
- Strong attention to details.
- Work as an effective team member focused on meeting/exceeding business goals and creating a safe working environment and culture.
- Use hand tools, torque tools, riveters, drill presses, hand presses, overhead cranes, and power tools to perform work.
- Work with certain chemicals: rust veto, grease, lubricating oil, and loctite.
- Proactively work with others to increase productivity and reduce cost.
- Meet/exceed department metrics to include; efficiency, utilization rates, DPMO (Defects per Million Opportunities).
Requirements
- Ability to use tools including: hand tools, power tools and presses.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to bend, stoop, squat, stretch, and reach.
- Ability to distinguish basic colors.
- Ability to stand on feet for long periods of time.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to read and understand fractions.
- Previous printed circuit board assembly experience.
- Basic math skills including: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in a multifunctional team environment.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to read and follow assembly instructions.
- Basic soldering skills.
- Basic component identification skills.
- Organization skills.
- Time management.
Pay
The anticipated wage scale for candidates who will work in Warrensburg, MO is $19.00 per hour during training and after 90 days of employment increases to $19.47 per hour. The final pay offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, the type of years and experience within the industry, and education.
Schedule
Monday - Friday, 7 AM - 3:30 PM, plus overtime.
