Production Operator

Your Role and Responsibilities

The Production Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently handling liquid and dry chemical products, ensuring accuracy, quality, and compliance throughout all warehouse and transfer operations. This hands-on role involves mixing and blending chemicals, loading and unloading trucks, tankers, and railcars; operating forklifts and other industrial equipment; repackaging and labeling materials; and maintaining precise inventory records.

• Mixing/Blending/Manufacturing:
  • Operate and manage process equipment to produce blended, diluted, and manufactured final products in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Ensure final product is on specification through process data and testing techniques.
  • Ensure safe and efficient operations throughout the duration of the process via process monitoring and utilization of equipment (scrubbers, ventilation, bonding/grounding, etc.).
• Receiving/Unloading/Loading:
  • Receive/unload and prepare/load liquid and dry chemical products from/to trucks, tankers, and railcars.
  • Maneuver and connect/disconnect transfer hoses.
  • Climb up tanks, tankers and railcars to open/close top hatches and monitor load.
  • Inspect tanks, tankers and railcars before and after loading/unloading operations.
  • Note and report discrepancies and damages.
• Product Sampling and Quality Control:
  • Sample and test products in conjunction with lab personnel.
  • Maintain accurate receiving/shipping logs.
  • Record amounts of product received or distributed via appropriate computer program.
  • Pick and stage product for delivery in accordance with specifications on customer orders or other instructions.
• Operation of Powered and Manual Industrial Lift Trucks:
  • Operate and maintain powered and manual industrial lift trucks (with certification).
  • Move raw materials to the production area and move finished products to the warehouse.
  • Able to lift and carry bags, pails, boxes, and pallets varying distances.
  • Stage and remove product packaging in complex storage racking within operating areas and warehouses.
• Repackaging and Storing:
  • Repackage product into proper containers for storage or shipment.
  • Give special attention to packaging, loading and storing of food grade and USP items.
  • Operate electronic scale and process devices.
  • Carefully store hazardous waste drums in the prescribed area in full compliance with hazardous waste regulations.
• Inventories and Maintenance:
  • Examine stored product and report deterioration and damage.
  • Rearrange stored materials.
  • Absorb and dispose of spills immediately.
  • Protect property from theft or damage.
  • Ensure warehouse is clean, accessible and safe for all visitors and workers.
  • Perform general maintenance tasks.

Profile

• Educational Requirements: High school diploma, general education degree (GED), or US military experience.
• Experience: Prior experience in working with chemical operations (2+ years) may be considered if education or service requirements are not fully met.
• Skills: Possess or able to pass exam to obtain Forklift Operators certification and demonstrate ability to operate a forklift safely.
• Language: Ability to read, comprehend and carry out detailed and simple instructions in English and write simple correspondence.
• Physical Abilities: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure; ability to learn and operate technology-based devices; meet or exceed production requirements based on information and or equipment used in the course of work performance; wear safety equipment as prescribed by company; comply with placarding rules when loading or unloading trucks.

Job Requirements

• Participation in ongoing safety program including safety meetings and trainings.
• Availability to work any days of the week, any assigned 8-12 hour shift.
• Willingness to work overtime or weekends as needed.
• Good safety and attendance record.
• Ability to work cooperatively with other departments and personnel.
• Observe, follow and enforce all company policies and procedures.
• Pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
• Pass E-verify check.
• Be capable of attaining a TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credential) card for participating MTSA facilities within Brenntag.
• This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
• Physical Requirements: Able to pass company physical and all training requirements, including wearing Personal Protective Equipment, which may include a respirator.
• Able to perform all functions of loading, unloading, packaging, stacking, palletizing, storage, and movement of material.
• Able to utilize tools and equipment as necessary to perform job tasks.
• Frequent exposure to outside weather (from 10% to 75% of the time) sometimes in extreme weather conditions.
