Responsibilities
- Follows standard procedures to monitor equipment for performance, safety, and effectiveness.
- Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and repairs equipment problems.
- Complete equipment modifications and relocations with direction from a project leader.
- Log equipment repairs, modifications, and maintenance details in the designated system.
- Always follow safety procedures, including lock out-tag out, confined space, and fall protection.
- Proficiency in many complex maintenance tasks, including troubleshooting mechanical issues, repairing equipment, and performing preventative maintenance.
- Ability to operate all common types of tools and maintenance equipment such as welding machines, machining equipment, multimeters, and power tools.
- Ability to operate medium to heavy duty equipment, including man and material lifts.
- Knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, and hydraulic systems, with the ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and take corrective actions to restore equipment to proper working condition.
- Replace or repair defective components, parts, or systems as needed.
- Collaborate with other maintenance staff and production operators to resolve equipment issues promptly.
- Document maintenance activities and communicate effectively with supervisors and other team members in operations and engineering.
- Able to perform tasks with minimal supervision, managing time and resources effectively.
- Mentor maintenance technician I, providing trade skill development.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Technical or vocational training in industrial maintenance.
- Experience: 10+ years of experience as a maintenance mechanic, preferably as a journeyman mechanic.
- Skills: Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals; strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose and repair complex machinery; ability to coordinate resources, contractors, supplies, and equipment for project execution; ability to train and mentor others on maintenance skills and equipment; ability to use a computer with basic proficiency (data entry).
