The Production Control Coordinator plays a critical role in supporting manufacturing operations by managing shop packets, providing support to fabrication planning and ERP/MRP system maintenance. This position ensures production documentation, work orders, and system data are accurate, current, and properly controlled to support safe, efficient, and compliant manufacturing operations. By partnering closely with Production, Planning, Materials, Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain, the Production Control Coordinator helps ensure accurate information flow between planning systems and the shop floor, supporting schedule adherence, material flow, and fabrication execution.

What You Can Expect In This Role (Job Responsibilities)

  • Assembly/ Production Support
    • Assemble and release complete shop packets, including work orders, bills of materials, routings, labels, and instruction sheets
    • Verify accuracy and completeness of production paperwork prior to release
    • Maintain organized physical and electronic document control files (e.g., instruction sheets, labels, ECNs/ECRs, drawings, specifications)
    • Support production and supervisory teams with documentation corrections, reissues, and clarifications as needed
  • Fabrication Planning & Materials Support
    • Provide data entry and administrative support for fabrication and production work orders within the ERP/MRP system
    • Update work order statuses, quantities, and work-in-process (WIP) data to support accurate production and materials visibility
    • Absorb production data related to output, scrap, and rework
    • Communicate fabrication order issues, material shortages, or data discrepancies to Planning, Materials, or Production Control personnel
    • Support basic reporting related to fabrication backlog, priorities, and schedule adherence
    • Absorb daily administrative tasks supporting shop floor execution
  • System Maintenance & Coding Support
    • Provide clerical support for production, material, and inventory transactions within the ERP/MRP system
    • Update item master and work order status fields (e.g., Active, Obsolete, Phase-Out) as directed
    • Absorb system cleanup activities, including correcting data errors, closing completed orders, and maintaining accurate records
    • Ensure consistency between system data, shop packets, labels, and released documentation
    • Escalate data integrity issues or discrepancies to Materials, Planning, or Production Control leadership
  • Cross-Functional & Continuous Improvement Support
    • Partner with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Planning, and Supply Chain on product changes, launches, and documentation updates
    • Respond to shop floor questions related to labels, instruction sheets, work orders, and materials documentation
    • Identify opportunities to improve documentation control, labeling accuracy, and administrative materials processes
    • Participate in other departmental projects or continuous improvement initiatives as assigned

What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)

  • Required Experience
    • 1–3 years of experience in manufacturing, materials, production support, or industrial clerical roles preferred
  • Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
    • Experience with ERP/MRP or document control systems preferred (e.g., SAP, Epicor, Oracle, JD Edwards, or similar)
    • Basic understanding of manufacturing and fabrication workflows
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel; strong data entry skills
    • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
    • Organized, dependable, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
    • Ability to follow standard work instructions and procedures consistently
    • Clear communication skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
    • Willingness to learn materials coordination, production control, and fabrication planning fundamentals
  • Education & Certifications
    • High School Diploma or Equivalent
    • Associates degree or administrative certificates are a plus

Travel & Working Environment

Combination of administrative office setting and manufacturing/shop floor environment
Frequent walking between office and shop floor areas
Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds
