Hourly, non-exempt position in the Manufacturing department reporting to the Production Manager.
About the role
Quality manufacturing of company products.
Responsibilities
- Read work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, and specifications.
- Process parts and perform saw or machine operations.
- Assemble parts and sub-assemblies.
- Utilize handheld tools (calipers, indicators, pliers, tinsnips, etc.).
- Basic setup skills (load correct fixture in machine, load correct tooling, understand how to set tool height offsets).
- Perform quality work checks to ensure the product meets quality standards.
- Identify defects in product and complete appropriate documentation when defects are identified.
- Perform all work in accordance with quality standards and established safety procedures.
- Know and understand part numbering system.
- Monitor inventory levels and report low on-hand material levels to department leaders.
- Report unusual and/or unsafe conditions to Supervisor or other department leader.
- Report any issues or conditions that may cause delays to the production schedule.
- Maintain good communication with Management, Supervisors, Engineering, and all Support Management.
- Handle materials; must be able to lift 50 lbs repetitively.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work station.
- Perform daily maintenance on machines.
- Work in other areas of fabrication and/or machine shop as needed.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by Supervision within capabilities.
Requirements
- Ability to read and understand blueprints.
- Ability to use tape measures, calipers, and micrometers.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English, with adequate hearing and visual acuity.
- Superior understanding of verbal and written instructions.
- Must handle multiple tasks and perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress work environment.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Working environment is a heated and non-air conditioned manufacturing/warehouse setting.
- Safety glasses with side shields are required in the manufacturing environment.
- Physical requirements include frequent reaching, gripping, and carrying up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to stand, stoop, bend, stretch, squat, and walk for extended periods.
