Product Marketing Lead (Remote, US)
Location: Remote US (preference Austin, TX or Boston, MA or Greater DMV) • Team: Marketing • Employment Type: Full-Time, Remote
About the role
The Product Marketing Lead will build and lead product marketing as a foundational function within VulnCheck's marketing organization, reporting directly to the CMO. This role defines target customers, positioning and messaging, go‑to‑market strategy for new products, and enables the field and community to communicate VulnCheck's value. The ideal candidate is technically fluent in cybersecurity, comfortable working strategically (ICP definition, positioning frameworks, GTM strategy) and hands‑on (writing messaging, building enablement, running launches), and is expected to hire the first team member within 6–12 months as the function scales.
Responsibilities
- ICP & Persona Development: Define and continuously refine VulnCheck's ideal customer profiles and buyer/user personas across enterprise security teams, government and public sector agencies, and cybersecurity vendors/data partners.
- Positioning & Messaging: Own core product positioning and messaging frameworks that differentiate VulnCheck's exploit intelligence in the vulnerability management and threat intel landscape, including positioning data as a licensable, integratable asset for partners and as a platform for direct users; ensure consistent use across the company.
- Product Launches & New Product Content: Lead GTM strategy and execution for new product and feature launches, partnering with Product to translate technical capabilities into market‑ready narratives, launch plans, website copy, research reports, and sales collateral.
- Field Enablement: Equip the sales team with tools, training, battlecards, and content for effective selling across all customer segments, including competitive positioning, objection handling, and use‑case/vertical‑specific assets.
- Community & Industry Engagement: Partner with community and customers to capture real‑world proof points and success stories; represent VulnCheck's product story at industry events, webinars, analyst conversations, and flagship conferences such as Black Hat and DEF CON.
- Analyst Relations: Own the analyst relations program end‑to‑end — building and managing relationships with industry analysts, coordinating briefings and inquiries, and ensuring accurate reflection of VulnCheck's positioning in analyst coverage.
- Market & Competitive Intelligence: Run continuous competitive analysis and market research across the full competitive landscape to sharpen positioning and inform competitive strategy.
- Team Building: Build the product marketing function from the ground up — establishing processes and priorities as an initial IC, then hiring and developing a team as scope grows (expected within 6–12 months).
Qualifications
- 8+ years of product marketing experience in B2B cybersecurity technology, with meaningful experience in threat intelligence, vulnerability management, attack surface management/CTEM, or EDR/XDR.
- Prior people leadership or a clear track record of being ready to hire and manage within the first year, paired with comfort operating as a hands‑on IC in the interim.
- Technical fluency in cybersecurity — comfortable engaging directly with vulnerability data, exploit intelligence concepts, and technical buyers/practitioners; able to speak credibly to technical audiences without a Sales Engineer.
- Demonstrated ownership of ICP/persona development and core positioning & messaging at a previous company, not just execution against someone else's framework.
- Facility in positioning and messaging a product to a mixed customer base — enterprise security buyers, government/public sector, and technical partners who license and integrate data or APIs (data‑as‑a‑product or OEM‑style positioning experience is a strong plus).
- Experience leading product launches end‑to‑end, from GTM strategy through cross‑functional execution with Product and Sales.
- Proven ability to craft messaging that resonates with both technical and executive audiences across VulnCheck's TAM and persona set.
- Strong track record supporting sales teams through enablement tools and field‑facing content.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Comfort working in a fast‑paced, startup environment with a collaborative and hands‑on mindset.
