Product Manager, Terminal Device Expansion
Job Summary
Stripe is seeking a seasoned Product Manager to lead the future of Stripe Terminal's device software platform. Reporting to the Hardware team, this role involves designing, building, and launching device software capabilities that enhance user experiences and differentiate Stripe's solutions in the market. Key responsibilities include partnering with software and hardware engineers, understanding user needs, and developing a multi-year vision for device software.
About the Role
The Terminal team's mission is to make in-person payments as easy as online payments through Stripe's API. This role requires a deep understanding of the technology powering Stripe's in-person commerce devices, including device boot up, software updates, security, performance, and connectivity. The ideal candidate will work closely with cross-functional partners to research and document customer needs, and will collaborate with the Partnerships team to extend Terminal growth via third-party hardware partnerships.
Responsibilities
- Partner with software and hardware engineers to design and build device software capabilities that delight users and differentiate Stripe's solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners to research, document, and understand customer needs for an excellent in-person payments experience.
- Build empathy with end users and differentiate the products they aim to deliver for their merchants.
- Deeply research and understand the competitive landscape and translate that understanding into differentiating features for the product suite.
- Work with the Partnerships team to develop a compelling roadmap for extending Terminal growth via third-party hardware partnerships and clearly communicate the business value of these partnerships.
- Use metrics to inform your point of view and leverage analytics to measure success.
- Define product requirements, provide clear guidance on prioritization, and support decisions related to development sequencing.
- Help your team make technical trade-off decisions based on your technical knowledge and experience.
Requirements
- 8+ years of product management experience or equivalent
- Demonstrated success and strong execution track record in building and sustaining scalable technology products
- Great interpersonal skills and strong verbal and written communication
- Proven track record of successful stakeholder management including executive communications, handling escalations, and advocating for ongoing investment in your product
- Experience working on products with developer interfaces (App deployment, APIs, SDKs); hardware or hardware-related product experience a plus
- Tech-savvy systems thinker, ideally with a Computer Science or equivalent degree or experience working as a software engineer
Qualifications
- Open to travel to Asia, including traveling at times to Hong Kong or Taiwan locations
- Experience with mobile device management
- Knowledge of Android operating system internals
- Experience with hardware build and lifecycle management
- Experience with payments and/or eCommerce
- Experience successfully building and launching 0-1 products
