Founded 25 years ago with a mission to transform diabetes management, Dexcom has expanded its vision to empower people to take control of their health through personalized, actionable insights. The company aims to address significant health challenges and improve human health on a global scale by constantly innovating unique biosensing-technology experiences.
About the Team
The Patient Apps team at Dexcom owns the company’s patient-facing mobile experiences. This team collaborates with design, engineering, clinical, regulatory, medical affairs, and commercial teams to deliver differentiated experiences that improve outcomes for patients and providers. As a Product Manager focused on Onboarding & First Value, you will drive product outcomes, discovery evidence, and opportunity prioritization for the Onboarding & First Value domain.
Responsibilities
- Own the product outcome, discovery evidence, and opportunity prioritization for the Onboarding & First Value domain.
- Lead outcome-based discovery to identify customer opportunities that improve setup completion, first-session success, user confidence, and early engagement.
- Define first meaningful value by partnering across Product, Design, Engineering, Medical Affairs, and Research to identify what makes a new user’s first CGM experience personally relevant and worth continuing.
- Build evidence for decisions using customer research, analytics, experimentation, and behavioral insights to guide prioritization and recommendations.
- Shape onboarding and education experiences by defining how Dexcom introduces CGM concepts, expectations, goals, and context without creating unnecessary burden or complexity.
- Increase motivation and confidence by helping users understand what CGM is showing, why it matters to their goals, and what actions they can take next.
- Capture meaningful starting context by defining what information should be gathered early to support more relevant experiences, guidance, and insights over time.
- Jointly own product risks within the Quad by partnering across Product, Design, Engineering, Medical Affairs, Regulatory, Quality, and Human Factors to evaluate value, usability, feasibility, viability, and safety.
- Translate ambiguity into focused recommendations by converting broad questions around activation, motivation, education, confidence, personalization, and early engagement into clear problem statements, tested assumptions, and prioritized next steps.
- Define success measures and learning agenda by establishing the metrics, qualitative signals, and evidence needs that indicate whether users are reaching value faster, continuing with confidence, and engaging beyond initial setup.
Requirements
- 5+ years in product management or a closely related role, ideally in healthcare, digital health, consumer software, mobile applications, or regulated technology.
- Demonstrated ability to work backward from customer and business outcomes, identify opportunities, and use discovery to validate what drives adoption, engagement, retention, and time-to-value.
- Experience improving customer activation, onboarding, adoption, engagement, retention, or first-value experiences through product strategy, experimentation, and iterative learning.
- Ability to understand customer motivations, goals, behaviors, barriers, and confidence gaps, then translate those insights into intuitive product experiences.
- Experience simplifying complex information into clear, confidence-building experiences that help users understand what they are seeing, why it matters, and what to expect next.
- Experience designing products that help users build confidence, develop habits, sustain engagement, or progress toward meaningful health or behavioral outcomes over time.
- Ability to connect customer needs, product opportunities, business outcomes, and evidence into a clear product strategy.
- Proven ability to partner with engineering, design, medical affairs, clinical, regulatory, legal, commercial, data science, research, quality, and human factors teams to deliver high-impact experiences.
- Comfort operating within regulated environments where safety, compliance, privacy, and quality must be balanced with customer experience and speed of learning.
- Experience using customer research, analytics, experimentation, behavioral data, and qualitative signals to guide prioritization and measure success.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with consumer onboarding, activation funnels, mobile app engagement, first-use experiences, or customer retention.
- Experience designing personalized onboarding, goal-setting, education, habit formation, or behavior-change experiences.
- Experience with digital health, chronic condition management, diabetes, CGM, health coaching, digital therapeutics, or patient-facing medical device software.
- Familiarity with healthcare, SaMD, HIPAA-compliant platforms, medical device software, or other regulated technology environments.
- Experience using analytics, experimentation, A/B testing, funnel analysis, cohort analysis, or behavioral metrics to improve product outcomes.
- Experience designing experiences for users with varying levels of health literacy, technology confidence, motivation, or support needs.
- Ability to define what “first meaningful value” means for a product experience and translate that into measurable activation, engagement, and retention signals.
- Strong systems thinking, including the ability to define reusable onboarding, education, context capture, and personalization patterns that can scale across patient experiences.
- Ability to communicate clearly with senior leaders, commercial stakeholders, clinicians, regulatory partners, researchers, designers, and technical teams, especially when tradeoffs are ambiguous or evidence is still emerging.

Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 8-12 years of related experience. At this level, a graduate degree may be desirable with 4 years of related experience.
