Amphenol Communications Solutions (ACS), a division of Amphenol Corporation, is a world leader in interconnect solutions for Communications, Mobile, RF, Optics, and Commercial electronics markets. ACS designs and manufactures a wide range of innovative connectors and cable assemblies for diverse applications including server, storage, data center, mobile, RF, networking, industrial, business equipment, and automotive.

The Product Line Manager will work with cross-functional teams to drive the development and marketing of Amphenol’s High Speed IO Cable product family. This role will be responsible for defining, promoting, and supporting products to their assigned market, customer, and region, including supporting select existing or emerging Tier 1 High Speed IO Cable business customers.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the development and marketing of Amphenol’s High-speed IO Cable products to assigned global accounts.
  • Promote products to assigned markets, win key new design opportunities, and develop and execute product strategies to grow the business top and bottom line.
  • Manage NPI to production activities and establish strong understanding of customer product requirements to set penetration strategies and align Amphenol’s product roadmap.
  • Have P&L responsibility for all HSIO Cable Product Family across all form factors (OSFP, QSFP-DD, QSFP, etc.).
  • Drive and manage HSIO Cable Product Line through:
    • NPI activities
    • Tooling strategies
    • Supplier strategies
    • Product qualifications
    • Production ramping plan
    • Life cycle management/rationalization, PCNs
    • Cost, pricing, and margins
    • Capacity planning
    • Schedule management
  • Drive NPI and mass production strategies including site locations, CAPEX, assembly/component yield management, automation strategies and deployments, equipment locations, and capacity planning.
  • Perform cost modeling (direct material and variable costs) to develop cost targets, implement regular cost downs, and pricing strategies.
  • Develop pricing strategies to achieve revenue and profitability targets and drive price negotiations.
  • Drive new business opportunity funnel, aligning business unit and sales on actions and strategies to win.
  • Define customer/market requirements for product family, timing, and forecasts.
  • Work with cross-functional teams (marketing, engineering, business development, and operations) to proactively identify product and solution gaps and define market requirements to close the total available market space.
  • Develop marketing materials and promote to industry and potential customers.
  • Train internal sales teams on positioning, benefits, target customers, and target applications.
  • Fully target site KPIs for sales revenue achievement, product margin improvement on cost reduction driving, negative margin improvement, and design win and shorten response time to quote.
  • Manage HSIO Cable products and services to drive market share and revenue growth.
  • Identify product gaps related to customer market share opportunities.
  • Participate in regular status meetings with customers, sales, product management, operations, and engineering groups.
  • Assist in developing marketing materials and promote products developed in the accounts across the region via trade shows and web-based marketing initiatives.
  • Contribute to yearly company strategy and budget preparation.
  • Work closely with Amphenol’s Global Sales Team to identify, develop, and capture business opportunities.
  • Work across all facets of the business (NPI Eng, Dev Eng, Operations, Finance, Marketing, etc.) to manage products, projects, and marketing.

Qualifications

  • BS Degree in Engineering Discipline, Electrical Engineering or Embedded Software Engineering preferred; MBA preferred.
  • 3 years of relevant experience with working knowledge of Business Development, Product Management, or Engineering Management disciplines in the Electrical/Electronic Manufacturing Industry.
  • Experience in the high-speed cable industry preferred.
  • Enthusiastic about developing products and business strategies.
  • Comfortable working with multiple levels of the organization and with all functional groups within a complex corporate organization.
  • 25% travel required for customer visits (sales + negotiations), sales training, factory visits, design center meetings, and trade shows.
