Product Lifecycle Electrical Engineer, Data Center Electrical Products and Services

Within Infrastructure Services and Data Center Engineering, the Electrical Products and Services team is developing resilient electrical distribution products and systems. We're seeking a Product Lifecycle Engineer with hands-on design, manufacturing, and installation experience of electrical products. If you have experience leading product design of electrical products, an understanding of electronics, and know how products should be manufactured to ensure quality, you may be a good fit. You should be capable of understanding detailed electrical equipment specifications and evaluating the merit and risks of design changes.

As a Global AWS Product Lifecycle Engineer, you will provide electrical infrastructure support to AWS data centers. You will collaborate with the product development team to gain a deep understanding of all facets of each product as they are being developed and tested, and then have engineering ownership of the product through its operational life. You will be a global ‘go-to’ engineering resource for electrical AWS products deployed in data centers. Intermittent travel will be necessary and should be expected to be around 30%. While most travel will be domestic, some international travel may be necessary.

Responsibilities

• Review, update, and approve equipment submittals
• Work with global electrical equipment suppliers and manufacturers
• Build trust and relationships with different stakeholders (e.g., reliability, operations, design, compliance)
• Work on concurrent projects in multiple geographic zones
• Understand and explain complex systems in clear and concise language
• Provide support to Field Engineering for root cause analysis, collaborating with the quality team for component-level investigations, maintenance and troubleshooting support, and operating procedure review for both mechanical and electrical issues
• Listen to the voice of the customer to understand if there are improvements that can be made to increase product reliability or availability
• Work with global suppliers and manufacturers to design product improvements and oversee root cause analysis
• Contribute to our global body of knowledge and drive a cycle of continuous improvement at a global scale

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
• 5+ years developing electrical and/or electronics products and launching them into production
• 5+ years with systems or components including wiring, connectors, relays, circuit breakers, switchgear, and/or transformers

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to design for manufacturability, create assembly specifications, and work with contract manufacturers
• Knowledge and experience interpreting electric codes: NEC, NFPA, UL891, UL508, ANSI C37, IEC 62271, or IEC61439
• Experience with electronics including instrumentation control schematics and integration of electronics components
• Knowledge of typical data center designs/architectures and industry design trends

Pay

The base salary range for this position is:

• USA, GA, Atlanta: $116,800.00 - $160,000.00 USD annually
• USA, OH, Columbus: $116,800.00 - $160,000.00 USD annually
• USA, TX, Austin: $116,800.00 - $160,000.00 USD annually
• USA, VA, Herndon: $116,800.00 - $160,000.00 USD annually
• USA, WA, Seattle: $116,800.00 - $160,000.00 USD annually

Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
