Product Lifecycle Electrical Engineer, Data Center Electrical Products and Services
About the role
Within AWS Infrastructure Services and Data Center Engineering, the Electrical Products and Services team is developing resilient electrical distribution products and systems. Our designs fundamentally change the data center, providing operational and financial benefits critical to the success of the AWS business and its millions of customers. As a Global AWS Product Lifecycle Engineer, you will provide electrical infrastructure support to AWS data centers, collaborating with the product development team to gain deep understanding of all facets of each product as they are developed and tested. You will have engineering ownership of the product through its operational life and serve as a global ‘go-to’ engineering resource for electrical AWS products deployed in data centers.
Amazon has a global presence, and intermittent travel will be necessary—expected to be around 30%. While most travel will be domestic, some international travel may be required.
Responsibilities
- Review, update, and approve equipment submittals
- Work with global electrical equipment suppliers and manufacturers to build trust and relationships with stakeholders (e.g., reliability, operations, design, compliance)
- Manage concurrent projects across multiple geographic zones
- Understand and explain complex systems in clear and concise language
- Provide support to Field Engineering for root cause analysis, collaborating with the quality team for component-level investigations, maintenance, troubleshooting, and operating procedure reviews for mechanical and electrical issues
- Listen to customer feedback to identify improvements that enhance product reliability or availability
- Work with global suppliers and manufacturers to design product improvements and oversee root cause analysis
- Contribute to a global body of knowledge and drive continuous improvement at scale
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- 5+ years of experience developing electrical and/or electronics products and launching them into production
- 5+ years of experience with systems or components including wiring, connectors, relays, circuit breakers, switchgear, and/or transformers
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to design for manufacturability, create assembly specifications, and work with contract manufacturers
- Knowledge and experience interpreting electrical codes such as NEC, NFPA, UL891, UL508, ANSI C37, IEC 62271, or IEC61439
- Experience with electronics, including instrumentation control schematics and integration of electronic components
- Knowledge of typical data center designs/architectures and industry design trends

Pay
Base salary ranges by location:
- USA, GA, Atlanta: $116,800 - $160,000 USD annually
- USA, OH, Columbus: $116,800 - $160,000 USD annually
- USA, TX, Austin: $116,800 - $160,000 USD annually
- USA, VA, Herndon: $116,800 - $160,000 USD annually
- USA, WA, Seattle: $116,800 - $160,000 USD annually
