Within AWS Infrastructure Services and Data Center Engineering, the Electrical Products and Services team is developing resilient electrical distribution products and systems. Our designs fundamentally change the data center, providing operational and financial benefits critical to the success of the AWS business and its millions of customers. We solve challenging technology problems and take big bets on new concepts, enabling AWS services to continue revolutionizing the industry.

We're seeking a Product Lifecycle Engineer with hands-on design, manufacturing, and installation experience of electrical products. As a Global AWS Product Lifecycle Engineer, you will provide electrical infrastructure support to AWS data centers, collaborate with the product development team, and have engineering ownership of products through their operational life. You will serve as a global ‘go-to’ engineering resource for electrical AWS products deployed in data centers. Intermittent travel (~30%) will be necessary, including some international travel.

Responsibilities

  • Review, update, and approve equipment submittals
  • Work with global electrical equipment suppliers and manufacturers
  • Build trust and relationships with stakeholders (e.g., reliability, operations, design, compliance)
  • Manage concurrent projects across multiple geographic zones
  • Understand and explain complex systems in clear and concise language
  • Provide support to Field Engineering for root cause analysis, collaborating with the quality team for component-level investigations, maintenance, troubleshooting, and operating procedure reviews for mechanical and electrical issues
  • Listen to customer feedback to identify improvements for product reliability or availability
  • Work with global suppliers and manufacturers to design product improvements and oversee root cause analysis
  • Contribute to the global body of knowledge and drive continuous improvement at scale

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • 5+ years developing electrical and/or electronics products and launching them into production
  • 5+ years of experience with systems or components including wiring, connectors, relays, circuit breakers, switchgear, and/or transformers

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to design for manufacturability, create assembly specifications, and work with contract manufacturers
  • Knowledge and experience interpreting electrical codes (NEC, NFPA, UL891, UL508, ANSI C37, IEC 62271, or IEC61439)
  • Experience with electronics, including instrumentation control schematics and integration of electronic components
  • Knowledge of typical data center designs/architectures and industry design trends

Pay

Base salary range: $116,800 – $160,000 USD annually (varies by location). Additional compensation may include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs).
