Product Handler
The Role
Comply with all safety rules and standard safety practices
Load product in both railcars and into customer trucks
Effectively communicate and cooperate with truck drivers
Detect and respond to safety hazards and equipment malfunctions in accordance with safety rules and standards
Lift, carry, push, or move a minimum of 50 lbs
Assist in various manual labor tasks around the plant as needed such as housekeeping, greasing, and minor maintenance, etc
Assist maintenance personnel as required
Work in various environments, including weather variations and exposure to fine lime/limestone dust (personal protective equipment is supplied by Graymont)
Qualifications
- Current Driver’s License is a strong asset
- Over 18 years of age
- High School Diploma/GED Equivalent
- Physically fit and able to work shifts
- Self-motivated, goal oriented, and excellent communication skills
- Able to think on your feet and troubleshoot/problem solve
- Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem-solving ability
- Possess good math skills including four basic arithmetic functions and common units of measurement
- Possess computer skills sufficient to work with JDE, Labware, Microsoft Excel, Word, and Access, and the ability to learn and understand PLC’s (programmable logic controllers)
- Possess the ability to read and write the English language to effectively interpret manuals, regulations, reports; must have the ability to complete various types of paperwork
