About the role
Lead daily department operations in a retail store, especially in the absence of the department manager. Ensure staff training, staffing levels, and compliance with company standards to meet performance goals.
Responsibilities
- Manage inventory, including ordering, stock rotation, and loss prevention.
- Validate received products for quality, quantity, and condition; ensure proper storage.
- Supervise team tasks such as stocking, production, and quality control, including handling spoiled or damaged items.
- Maintain product knowledge, promotional deals, and store features.
- Support execution of weekly plans and company policies using designated tools and software.
- Assist in staff scheduling, labor control, and payroll management.
- Model company values, support staff development, and participate in meetings.
- Ensure a clean, organized, and well-stocked department adhering to safety and food safety standards.
- Contribute to achieving department goals and key performance indicators.
- Perform additional tasks as needed, including support in other departments.
Qualifications & Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 0-2 years retail experience preferred.
- Strong communication, organization, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Leadership abilities with hands-on management skills.
- Knowledge of retail operations and management systems; suggestive selling experience is a plus.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint; bilingual skills (Spanish) desirable.
