About the Role
As the Procurement Team Lead, you will manage a work group responsible for the procurement of engineered equipment, commodities, permanent plant materials, and small tools and supplies. This is a ‘working manager’ role that executes contractual obligations while providing oversight, support, and mentorship to Procurement Agents and Sr. Procurement Agents.
Responsibilities
- Monitor, evaluate, and mentor the working team on meeting or exceeding performance goals and expectations.
- Ensure the team complies with procurement policies and procedures and adheres strictly to documentation requirements.
- Oversee and plan all aspects of procurement from pre-bid to closeout.
- Effectively manage people and projects within the assigned region to pursue cost savings opportunities while implementing process standardization efficiencies.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and performance evaluation input for staff personnel.
- Support the estimating department by contacting suppliers for budgetary quotations in bid preparation.
- Represent the company in contracts and formulate policies with suppliers.
- Negotiate terms and conditions for equipment and materials while consulting with corporate attorneys and senior management on project risk and commercial competitiveness.
- Monitor and oversee the competitive bid process via Request for Proposals (RFP) or Request for Quotes (RFQ).
- Responsible for the qualification and evaluation of suppliers for materials and equipment.
- Lead aggregated sourcing events across regions to drive procurement value.
- Collaborate with the Center of Excellence on larger category strategy initiatives to increase margin and enhance process efficiencies.
- Review internal/external metrics for suppliers, procurement, and operations to ensure targets are met; identify root causes and mitigation actions for any deficiencies.
- Ensure recommended awards align with the approved decision model and Delegation of Authority to adhere to procurement policies.
- Maintain mutually beneficial supplier relationships through Supplier Relationship Management (SRM).
- Provide feedback and assist in analyzing market and delivery systems to assess material availability.
- Communicate and enforce procurement policies and procedures.
- Oversee financial planning, delivery schedules, and procurement reporting.
- Develop and review procurement analytics, reporting, and deliverables.
- Oversee the development and implementation of procurement and contract management instructions, policies, and procedures.
- Review materials for accuracy upon receipt and oversee the material review process.
- Enter documentation into the purchasing system.
- Review and approve invoices; resolve invoice problems with vendors and Accounts Payable.
- Oversee the development and use of 3rd-party Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDA).
- Oversee the return of materials to ensure proper and timely credit to the project.
Requirements
- Thorough knowledge of electrical equipment and construction materials.
- Working knowledge of procurement techniques, procedures, policies, and accounting.
- Ability to delegate work effectively and balance overseeing people and projects while performing in a working manager role.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong supervisory skills and ability to mentor Procurement Agents and Sr. Procurement Agents.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and Oracle.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, adapting to changing priorities as necessary.
- Ability to support ongoing process improvement initiatives.
- Ability to work under time pressure with a positive attitude.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and an effective team player.
- Ability to professionally interact with employees, management, vendors, clients, and others.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Minimum 5 years of electrical procurement experience.
- Combination of education, training, and relevant experience.
- Up to 10% travel may be required.
Working Conditions
- General work environment: sitting for long periods, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, bending.
- Work is primarily conducted indoors with varying environmental conditions (e.g., fluorescent lighting, air conditioning).
- Noise level is usually low to medium but can be loud on the jobsite.
- Occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs.

Pay
Pay range: $119,600.00 - $156,900.00 annually. The pay range reflects expected compensation for candidates meeting the specified qualifications and requirements. Actual pay may vary based on location, experience, skills, and education.
